Speaker Wang Jin-pyng is the highest ranking Taiwan government official permitted to visit Washington, DC.  He will discuss the policies of the administration of Taiwan’s new government, headed by President Ma Ying-jeou, including military as well as political and economic dimensions. In particular, he will note the opportunities that exist for a strengthening the long-standing relationship between the United States and the Republic of China, as well as for a relaxation of tensions across the Taiwan Strait.
