Daniel Patrick Moloney is a Senior Policy Analyst at the DeVos Center for Religion and Civil Society at The Heritage Foundation, where he studies policy issues affecting family,religion, marriage and civil society.

Moloney's focus within the DeVos Center is on the application of the principles underlying family, religion, and culture to concrete policy proposals in areas such as welfare, crime, foreign policy, and health care. Working closely with the B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies and the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at Heritage, Moloney also works on issues related to the defense and promotion of traditional marriage and the first freedom of religious liberty.

Before joining Heritage in November 2007, Moloney had been a lecturer on religion, politics, and American constitutional law in the Department of Politics at Princeton University, and was affiliated with the university's James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions. He also was a post-doctoral fellow at the Witherspoon Institute in Princeton.

Moloney received his doctorate in philosophy in 2004 from the University of Notre Dame, where he also earned a master's degree. He earned a bachelor's degree in religious studies from Yale University in 1994, and another bachelor's degree in theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome in 2007.  

Moloney is a prolific writer, having published more than 20 articles and book reviews in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, National Review, Crisis and First Things, a New York-based religious journal where, from 1998 to 2001, he was the Associate Editor.

He is fluent in Spanish and is also proficient in Latin, Greek, Italian and French. He lives in Reston, Va.
