John Fogarty

  • Vice President, Development

As Vice President for Development at The Heritage Foundation, John Fogarty manages the growing organization's membership and fundraising operations.

Fogarty oversees interrelated activities such as donor relations, special events and programs for nearly 710,000 members nationwide; grant development and development research; and the members' Web site, MyHeritage.org.

Fogarty became one of the youngest vice presidents in Heritage's history in December 2009, when the Board of Trustees made him an officer at age 32. Five months earlier, he had been promoted to senior management as head of the Development Department.

Previously, Fogarty directed the donor relations division, supervising the work of seven regional managers and the community committee program.

He continues to be responsible for communicating Heritage's mission and effectiveness in advancing conservative policy solutions to hundreds of thousands of members throughout the United States.

Before joining Heritage, Fogarty served elsewhere in Washington as both director of annual giving and associate director of development at the Catholic University of America. He also was a senior management analyst for the Higher Education Consulting practice of KPMG Consulting (now BearingPoint), focusing on organizational redesign and change management.

A native of Long Island, NY, Fogarty earned a bachelor's degree in politics from Catholic University. In his free time, he enjoys sharpening his communications skills through improv. He and his wife, Christie, live in Silver Spring, Md.
