Heath Hall

  • Director, Strategic Operations

As a director of strategic operations for The Heritage Foundation, Heath Hall concentrates on promoting three of the think tank’s key initiatives: Protect America (national defense and security), American Leadership (our nation’s sovereignty and international role) and Rule of Law (the courts and our individual liberties).

Hall joined Heritage in 2007 as a senior policy analyst in the Government Relations department, where he specialized in defense issues before Congress. He was promoted to his current position in 2010.

Hall previously served as senior legislative assistant to Sen. Jim Talent (R-Mo.), who left office in 2007. His duties included advising the senator and developing policy positions and legislation on the federal budget and appropriations, children and family, education, housing and urban development, small business and welfare programs.

Hall taught public affairs from Washington as a professor in an online course offered by Park University’s Hauptmann School for Public Affairs in Parkville, Mo. He has talked about Congress and elections as an analyst and commentator on XM Radio’s P.O.T.U.S. channel as well as numerous local and national radio and television programs.

His published work includes an article written with Senator Talent in Regent Journal of Law & Public Policy titled “Sowing the Wind: The Decay of American Power and its Consequences.”

When not advancing Heritage’s public policy solutions, Hall satisfies his entrepreneurial spirit as president of Pork Barrel BBQ, a purveyor of barbecue sauce and dry rubs that he co-founded in December 2008. The first Pork Barrel BBQ restaurant is slated to open in 2011 in Alexandria, Va.

Hall received his juris doctorate in 2000 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and is licensed to practice law in Maryland. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

A native of Springfield, Mo., Hall grew up in Jefferson City, Mo. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
