Description
Hungary has been on the frontlines of some of the most important issues facing Europe for the last years. Despite the simultaneous challenges and the repeated harsh criticism, Hungary gave an effective response to illegal migration through enhanced border control. This often criticized policy is gradually gaining support, including by all Central European countries, unifying the region. Hungary has also managed to accelerate economic growth during the Eurozone crisis and today it is one of the fastest growing economies in Europe. Hungary has made significant steps to enhance its energy security.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was the first political leader in Europe to publicly support then Presidential nominee Donald Trump. His support was based on the many similarities that the two leaders and countries embody on important policy issues, such as the promotion of legitimate national interests, achieving economic growth, full employment, and protecting national security and sovereignty. After years of one-sided criticism a new episode can begin in the Hungarian-American relations.
