Today, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS) for Director of the Central Intelligence Service.

“Mike Pompeo has a strong conservative record during his time in the House, fighting to defend American interests and against government waste” said Heritage President Jim DeMint. “Mike has been one of the strongest opponents to the flawed Iran deal that has put American families at risk. He has a great opportunity to depoliticize our intelligence community so that we can keep Americans safe from future attacks.”

The Heritage Foundation has offered a number of policy suggestions for the Trump administration in their Mandate for Leadership Series. Included are policy proposals for the intelligence community.
