Description
Midge Decter, a long-time member of The Heritage Foundation’s Board of Trustees, passed away on May 9, 2022. Midge was an icon of the modern conservative movement, a journalist, an organizer, and an inspiration. Her writings on pressing social issues defined the cultural challenges posed by the 1960s, and her leadership in defense of freedom rallied the cause of democracy against the Soviet Union. She spoke with courage, clarity, and common sense, and was never afraid to set out obvious truths. Her convictions inspired and epitomized a generation of thinkers and leaders that rejected the failures of liberalism and paved the way for the triumph of Ronald Reagan in 1980.
Heritage is delighted to bring together leading conservative thinkers to celebrate her life, explore her legacy, and discuss the continuing relevancy of her thought and work to today’s challenges.
