This afternoon, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to scrap the Obama-era net neutrality rules. Heritage Foundation’s James Gattuso had the following to say on the commission’s vote:

 

“Today’s vote by the Federal Communications Commission is a major win for consumers and a victory in keeping government bureaucrats out of the business of regulating internet content. Since 2015, net neutrality rules have significantly hindered innovation and discouraged needed investments. The FCC commissioners, led by Chairman Pai, who voted in favor of scrapping these burdensome regulations should be praised for their commitment to the repeal of harmful and unneeded regulations in the communications sector. They recognize what all Americans know to be true: out of control government regulation hurts consumers, the economy and our society.”
