Heritage Analysis of Trump Administration’s First Year Draws High-Profile Attention

President Donald Trump mentioned The Heritage Foundation in a tweet, citing an analysis completed by Heritage that determined 64 percent of the policy recommendations from the think tank’s “Mandate for Leadership” were embraced by the Trump administration in its first year.

In the tweet, Trump quoted Thomas Binion, director of Heritage’s congressional and executive outreach program. Binion, who oversaw the “Mandate for Leadership” project, told the Washington Examiner that Trump “is very active, very conservative, and very effective.”

The popular news aggregator site, the Drudge Report, also shared the Examiner’s article.

Binion appeared on the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” program to discuss the analysis.

“When did you realize that the president was on such a roll in terms of your agenda?” asked host Brian Kilmeade.

“Remember that first week, all those executive orders, right out of the gate? There was one on immigration. There was one on Obamacare …

“Right away, he started with a great Supreme Court justice nominee. So, you could tell that this was a president intent on keeping his promises,” Binion said.


Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh also mentioned the analysis. “There isn’t a president in modern times who got even close to that. The Heritage Foundation [is] reporting that 65% of Trump’s agenda has already passed. Trump is not slowing down,” Limbaugh said.
