Ten years ago, the housing finance crisis turned many neighborhoods into ghost towns. The street below is in Detroit, which was particularly hard hit. In 2015, the Detroit News examined property records and found that 36 percent of all Detroit properties had been through foreclosure between 2005 and 2014; and that 84,000 total properties in Detroit are blighted, 76 percent of which are houses that have been through foreclosure.
