As Chief Operating Officer, Eric’s focus is aligning strategy, talent, and resources for enterprise-wide results. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the operations of Heritage’s robust organization, including its most important asset, its workforce. To continue fostering Heritage’s far-reaching influence and impact, his attention centers on optimizing stewardship of resources, promoting new areas of growth, attracting and retaining talent, strengthening culture, instituting systems of accountability, and managing enterprise risk. Every business decision is intended to maximize opportunity to produce results that advance Heritage’s mission to return self-governance to the American people.

The COO Operations Group, overseen by Eric, includes Finance & Accounting, People Operations, Information Technology, Workplace Services, Events & Programming, Phillip N. Truluck Center for Leadership Development, and the General Counsel’s Office. These teams move in sync with the charge to deliver exceptional customer experiences to their nearly 400 colleagues and all Heritage constituent groups.

Eric also manages Heritage’s portfolio of corporate real estate. Since 2001, he has grown the organization’s headquarters from 75,000 sq. ft to 250,000 sq. ft of owner-occupied property on Capitol Hill. He continues to direct numerous initiatives to purposefully enhance Heritage’s imprint and infrastructure. All while looking ahead to preemptively build the needs of tomorrow. Eric’s corporate real estate responsibilities include master space planning and usage, architectural and interior design, construction management, tenant leasing, and the acquisition and divestiture of assets. Major projects include the acquisition and development of several premium properties, intern-housing facilities, an underground parking garage, historic building renovations, new facades and exterior improvements, and substantial interior renovations.

Eric began his career at Heritage as an intern in 1998 in business relations. Over the last few decades, he has helped grow, build, and develop Heritage into the leading institution it is today.

Beyond Heritage, Eric serves on the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District Board of Directors Executive Committee. He also leads the charge on Heritage’s community outreach and philanthropic investment in service organizations, focused on improving community well-being and assisting local DC residents. He believes in putting policy into practice.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and a master’s degree in public administration from American University in Washington, D.C. He has also earned certifications from The Wharton School and Harvard University.
