WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation’s Hans von Spakovsky and co-author John Fund released a new book Tuesday that details America’s broken election process, how the left is taking advantage of the process, and why we must make it easier to vote but harder to cheat to ensure the integrity and security of the election process.
“Our Broken Elections: How the Left Changed the Way You Vote” is a deep dive into the issues that threaten America’s elections today. The authors find that despite claims from the mainstream media, there is a real story of a broken election process in the deeply contentious 2020 election.
As senior legal fellow and manager of the Election Law Reform Initiative at Heritage, von Spakovsky is a recognized expert on election integrity. Fund frequently covers election-related issues as a national affairs reporter for National Review.
“This book illustrates the many problems we face in America’s electoral process and the tangible solutions we can implement to ensure the integrity of our elections,” said Heritage President Kay C. James. “Heritage Senior Legal Fellow Hans von Spakovsky’s work in this area has been focused on protecting the right of every eligible citizen to vote and ensuring that their vote isn’t voided by fraud, errors, or mistakes. Guaranteeing fair elections and the fundamental right to vote are chief priorities for The Heritage Foundation in our work to strengthen our republic and preserve this great American experiment in self-government.”
The book has already received high praise from influential political leaders and influencers. National radio host Mark Levin noted that the book is “a clarion call about the danger we face in our elections and how these radicals want to bring back the worst corruption of the political machines of the last century.”
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said von Spakovsky and Fund’s book “should be read by everyone who cares about protecting the integrity of our elections.”
Von Spakovsky is a leading voice in the fight for securing America’s elections. Before joining Heritage in 2008, he served for two years as a member of the Federal Election Commission, the federal authority charged with enforcing campaign finance laws for congressional and presidential elections, including public funding.
He and Fund have also co-authored “Who’s Counting?: How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk” (Encounter Books, 2012) and “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department” (HarperCollins/Broadside June 2014).
Von Spakovsky helps run the Heritage Election Fraud Database, a sampling of proven election fraud cases from across the United States. It demonstrates the vulnerabilities in the election system and the many ways in which fraud is committed, although it is not a comprehensive list.
