WASHINGTON—Heritage Foundation President Dr. Kevin Roberts responded to President Biden’s State of the Union address: 

“President Biden dressed his failing liberal wolf agenda in sheep’s clothing tonight. The unfortunate truth is that Americans have come to expect the president to be completely divorced from reality. In Biden’s second year of broken promises, inflation remains rampant, millions of illegal immigrants and fentanyl flooded our open border, the Chinese Communist Party went completely unchecked, our institutions colluded with Big Tech in violation of our first amendment rights, crime surged, and the administrative state continued its expansion. 

 

“Despite his babbling pleasantries, the state of the union is not strong. 

 

“Biden’s economic policies have betrayed the everyday American. He created worker and resource shortages, leaving our supply chains in shambles. What was ‘transitory inflation’ is now seemingly permanent as prices at the pump and in grocery stores continue to soar. Meanwhile, Americans see right through Biden’s lie that ‘[Republicans] want to take the economy hostage’ by suggesting responsible spending cuts before blindly increasing our nation’s $31 trillion credit card debt.   

 

“Instead of focusing on policies that relieve Americans from this strain, this administration is purposefully dividing our country and targeting its critics.   

 

“Still, Americans remain resilient. Over the next two years, we will be in the fight of our lives for the soul of this nation. Conservatives have the opportunity to hold this administration accountable and establish a unifying policy agenda that returns self-governance to the everyday American.”
