WASHINGTON—Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who has put parental rights and education freedom at the forefront of his administration, will address The Heritage Foundation’s 50th anniversary reception Thursday, April 20, at George Washington’s Mount Vernon in Virginia.
Youngkin will appear alongside Heritage President Dr. Kevin Roberts to celebrate with the organization’s staff, trustees, former presidents, alumni, supporters, as well as conservative leaders at the historic Washington home on the banks of the Potomac River.
Heritage was founded in 1973 and is marking its 50th anniversary with a two-day event in April, including a Leadership Summit and evening gala at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland in addition to the Mount Vernon event.
“Heritage is proud to be on the front lines fighting to advance conservative policy with Gov. Glenn Youngkin,” Roberts said. “Since his inspiring victory in 2021, Gov. Youngkin and his administration have rightly prioritized what’s important to Virginians—empowering parents, lowering taxes, and investing in law enforcement. Those issues align with Heritage’s own policy priorities, and we’re grateful to have a champion fighting for commonsense solutions in Virginia.”
Youngkin took office as governor in January 2022 after a career in business, including 25 years at the Carlyle Group. He was born and raised in Virginia and has prioritized commonsense solutions to kitchen-table issues in his tenure leading the commonwealth.
During his first year in office, Youngkin appointed two former Heritage presidents, Dr. Ed Feulner and Kay Coles James, to leadership positions in Virginia. James is serving as secretary of the commonwealth, where she advises Youngkin and oversees appointments to state boards and commissions. Feulner is chairman of Virginia’s Commission on Higher Education Board Appointments.
Heritage’s Leadership Summit will kick off the morning of Thursday, April 20. The summit will demonstrate consensus around big-picture questions facing America and deliver a conservative policy agenda equipped to unite the movement around an offensive strategy to take back our country from the regime of the Left, restore self-governance, and rebuild key institutions of civil society.
Featuring leaders from every sector of the conservative coalition, the two-day Leadership Summit will further unpack strategies and tactics for the federal, state, and local levels to both halt the Left’s cultural onslaught and defend and strengthen our most cherished institutions and principles.
Heritage will announce additional information and Leadership Summit speakers in the coming weeks. The summit will be open to a limited number of news outlets. For more information, click here. To apply for a press pass, click here. For inquiries, please contact Noah Weinrich ([email protected]).
