WASHINGTON—Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon recently signed a law prohibiting abortion pills in the state. The Heritage Foundation’s Sarah Perry Parshall, senior legal fellow, and Jay Richards, director of the DeVos Center for Life, Religion and Family, released the following statement:

“The Wyoming legislative session ended with a clear proclamation that the state values unborn life and the safety of women and girls by banning chemical abortions—the most commonly used method in the nation to end unborn lives.

“With the blockade lifted on state abortion regulations after the fall of Roe v. Wade, Gov. Gordon and the state legislature appropriately exercised their power to regulate abortion to protect vulnerable lives.

“While the nation awaits the outcome in Texas in a lawsuit challenging the Food and Drug Administration’s 2000 approval of Mifepristone for abortion, Wyoming is halting the risks and complications associated with the use of the abortion pill altogether.

“Other states should take note and work to end the use of chemical abortion by restricting these dangerous pills in the same way.”
