Today, Sen. Lamar Alexander, Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, addressed Congress, urging lawmakers to address the high and rising costs of health care. The Heritage Foundation’s Marie Fishpaw, director of domestic policy studies, applauded his call:
"America leads the world in medical innovation, but increasing costs are hurting the ability of many Americans to access the care they need.
Too often, excess costs in the health care system are the result of government policies that limit competition or put special interests ahead of the needs of patients.
Rather than double-down on more government-run health care, Americans deserve more affordable health solutions that give them individualized and innovative care.
We look forward to working with the committee in advancing policies that protect all Americans, especially those with pre-existing conditions, while lowering costs and improving health care choices."
