Heritage Foundation Announces New Era for The Oversight Project

Mar 31, 2025 2 min read

WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation announced today that The Oversight Project will become its own entity with the strong support, partnership, and backing of The Heritage Foundation. Since its establishment in 2022, The Oversight Project has unearthed massive amounts of fraud, corruption, and abuse within our federal government. The Oversight Project has filed over 100,000 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and nearly 100 lawsuits. The Oversight Project will continue its investigative and legal work, as well as expand into new realms at the state and local levels to expose corruption and weaponization. It will be set up as a 501(c)(4) organization to implement new strategies to execute its critical mission.

Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, praised The Oversight Project’s work:

“The Oversight Project has done more to expose the corruption and weaponization of our institutions in just three short years than most organizations achieve in a lifetime. Through rigorous lawsuits and investigations, they’ve pulled back the curtain on the mass weaponization of our government against everyday Americans. Now, as the project enters its Golden Age, it is taking the fight to new arenas. Heritage is proud of their growth—and trust me, the best is yet to come.”

Mike Howell, president of The Oversight Project, commented on the news:

“The Heritage Foundation incubated The Oversight Project to meet the dramatic and urgent need to consistently deliver original information to the American People about the failures of the Biden Administration. Now is the moment to evolve to win the next battle.  We are expanding the battlefield to the states to ensure that the ‘resistance’ is not unopposed. We intend to obtain as much information as possible to directly inform Americans about the health of their country and the operations of their government.

“I’m deeply thankful to Dr. Kevin Roberts and The Heritage Foundation for having the vision and courage to help us embark on our mission. We look forward to the continued partnership with the Heritage enterprise to meet the needs of today.”

For the past three years, The Oversight Project has been at the forefront of releasing information to the American public. Notably, the group fought to secure the release of the audio from President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur, shedding light on concerns about Biden’s cognitive state and drawing attention to his inability to lead the country, which contributed to the former president withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race. Additionally, the project recently released groundbreaking information regarding President Biden’s use of the autopen during his presidency. And leading up to the 2024 election, The Oversight Project exposed election integrity-related issues, including releasing video footage of non-citizens in multiple swing states admitting they were registered to vote, exposing a charity that was distributing fraudulent residency documents, and tracking the movements of illegal immigrants throughout the country. The project also tracked the movements of President Trump’s would-be assassin using cell-phone ad data.
