WASHINGTON – The Heritage Foundation today announced a new website that highlights the various consequences and failures of the Biden administration's border crisis: thebidenbordercrisis.com. The new website chronicles in one place the various actions the Biden administration has taken to open America’s southern border, undermine the rule of law, and mislead Americans about what is happening at the border.
Mike Howell, Heritage senior advisor for government relations, and former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) oversight counsel, released the following statement about this new resource:
“Enforcing our immigration laws is essential to protecting the American people and preserving our nation’s sovereignty, security, and well-being. Unfortunately, since day one, the Biden administration has done exactly the opposite. This administration has unleashed a historic border crisis, and it has done by design. It undid border security policies that were working, including the Remain in Mexico policy, asylum cooperative agreements, and construction of the border wall system. It has sent a message to the world that America’s borders are open and that lawbreakers may eventually be rewarded with the greatest prize of all – American citizenship via amnesty. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is on track to record more than 1 million apprehensions this fiscal year, and that does not even count the hundreds of thousands of ‘got-aways’ who have evaded Border Patrol entirely and are now in the country illegally and indefinitely.
“This administration’s policies are encouraging mass illegal immigration not seen in decades, and yet President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas all continue to make false claims about the situation at the border. This website shows one thing very clearly: there is a crisis, it’s the fault of the Biden administration, and we must act to undo the damage the president and his administration have caused.”
“With so many resources out there, it can be difficult to know who to trust or where to go to find comprehensive information about Biden’s border crisis,” said James Carafano, Heritage vice president for national security and foreign policy, and E.W. Richardson fellow. “Americans who care about this issue and want to find the truth now have a resource they can use to get the facts about Biden’s border crisis, and what can be done about it.”
The Heritage Foundation has been at the forefront of the immigration and border security fight for years. The current homeland security team includes Howell, Carafano, Senior Research Fellow and former acting DHS Deputy Chief of Staff Lora Ries, visiting fellow and former acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf, and visiting fellow and former acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan.
