WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation congratulated Andrew Puzder on his nomination as ambassador to the European Union today.
Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, praised Andrew on his nomination:
“In nominating Andy Puzder as Ambassador to the European Union, President Trump has made a bold and strategic choice. Andy’s proven leadership as a business executive, coupled with his profound understanding of global economic forces, uniquely position him to represent America’s interests in Europe with strength and clarity.
“As a staunch defender of American sovereignty, Andy will unapologetically advance policies that put America first. —standing firm against rejoining the Paris Climate Accords, resisting efforts to cede our authority to the World Health Organization, and championing fair trade agreements. His leadership will be vital in advancing discussions on tariffs, which will not only strengthen the U.S. economy but also play a pivotal role in addressing geopolitical challenges, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“With Andy at the forefront, America’s commitment to economic freedom, national sovereignty, and global peace will be firmly reinforced. His deep commitment to America First principles guarantees that our values will remain at the forefront of our foreign policy. We are confident Andy will be an invaluable force in Europe, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved nomination.”
Heritage Vice President of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy Victoria Coates added:
“Andy’s nomination as ambassador to the European Union is a critical step in putting ‘America First’ on the world stage. President-elect Trump’s agenda requires leaders who embody and champion that principle.
“Andy's distinguished career spanning economics, law, and politics positions him to hold the EU accountable for insufficient NATO defense contributions and uneven support in the war in Ukraine—issues that directly impact American security and interests.
“After four years of failed foreign policy in Europe, Andy will ensure that European policies are aligned with our national interests. We extend him our best wishes for success in his new role.”
Andrew currently serves as a distinguished visiting fellow for business and economic freedom at The Heritage Foundation, where he advises on the consequences of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activism and the benefits of free market capitalism.
