Heritage Releases Updated Election Fraud Database, Featuring New Fraud Map

Dec 12, 2024 3 min read

WASHINGTON— The Heritage Foundation released an updated election fraud database, featuring a new Election Fraud Map. Since 2014, the database has tracked and highlighted a sampling of proven cases of election fraud from across the country.

John Malcolm, vice president of Heritage’s Institute for Constitutional Government, said the following:

"Our Election Fraud Database has helped educate countless Americans that election fraud is real and that states and the federal government must ensure elections are secure. This upgraded fraud map highlights that states need to do more work.”

New features for the database include:

  • Interactive graphics on the homepage map displaying the states with the most instances of fraud and the various types of fraud;

  • A featured case carousel highlighting particularly egregious and newly added cases;

  • Breakout subcategories for ineligible voting cases, drilling down these convictions by type of fraud—such as voting by the deceased, felons, minors, and aliens (non-citizens), as well as non-residents falsely claiming to live in a particular jurisdiction; and

  • New branding to match our sister site, the Election Integrity Scorecard, which contains an analysis of the security and integrity of the election process in every state and the District of Columbia.

Hans von Spakovsky, manager of Heritage’s Election Law Reform Initiative, stated:

“Heritage has just added seven more fraud cases from Alabama, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas, to the database.

“With the addition of these seven cases, the database now holds 1,567 proven instances of election fraud, and we are tracking almost 300 additional potential cases that are in the investigative or prosecutorial stage by law enforcement.”

Every case in the database is a documented occurrence of fraud that resulted in convictions, judges ordering new elections, boards of elections finding fraud and other actions. While not comprehensive, this database demonstrates vulnerabilities in the election process and the various ways in which fraud is committed. Learn more here.
