WASHINGTON— Heritage Foundation Tech Policy Center Director Kara Frederick released the following statement ahead of Wednesday’s House vote on the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act:
“The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act gives ByteDance and TikTok a clear choice: cut ties with the Chinese Communist Party and operate in the United States or immediately cease all business in our country. It should be an easy and simple decision for the company, but its executives are panicking because this bill calls their bluff.
“TikTok is so in bed with Communist China that it seems reticent to reach for the clean divestment option this legislation gives the company. This should tell you all you need to know about the grip the CCP has on TikTok.
“We are grateful that Congress is considering policies that put Americans and America's national security first.”
