Mark is a Senior Cloud and Network Engineer at The Heritage Foundation.

Mark Harris holds the role of Senior Cloud and Network Engineer of IT Infrastructure and is responsible for building and maintaining The Heritage Foundation's digital infrastructure.

Harris’s main roles include managing Heritage’s network support staff, helping provide a vision for the organization’s IT infrastructure, researching and procuring technologies that support Heritage’s mission, and coordinating with different business divisions within the organization to ensure that IT needs are being met.

Harris originally joined Heritage in 2008 and tackled the management and deployment of technologies such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Virtual Desktops, and Business Continuity solutions.

After leaving Heritage in 2012 to run his own business, Harris returned in 2018 to continue to support Heritage's information technology needs.

Before joining Heritage, Harris was an information technology support specialist for eight years at Patton, Harris, Rust & Associates, a top civil engineering firm in Virginia. While there, he performed network administration, managed backups, provided security solutions, and created disaster recovery solutions. Before that, he worked as a design engineer for the firm on various civil engineering and land development projects.

Harris received a master’s degree in Information Technology from Virginia Tech in 2006 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Coventry University in England. He is a certified Microsoft Engineer and A+ technician, and holds certificates in ITIL management and completed his PMP certification.

Harris was born and raised in Wales, United Kingdom, and moved to the United States in 1995.
