Free Markets
The Ethical Economic Choice
Speakers Series
This speakers series examines competing conceptions of economic justice from a variety of perspectives. Various conservatives, classical liberals and libertarians may differ on how best to address poverty and the exact scope of limited government. They agree, however, that individual effort, merit, preferences and values matter morally and that free markets offer the most ethical and humane means of organizing economic life. They agree that an unplanned and unequal distribution of income and wealth is just if it is the result of individuals acting freely in accordance with just rules. The speakers will critique the liberal, progressive and socialist egalitarian vision that seeks to have government enforce a predetermined distribution of economic goods in the name of equality, fairness or social justice.
