Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture proposed limiting the waivers that undermine work requirements for work-capable adults receiving food stamps. The Heritage Foundation's Jamie Hall, a senior policy analyst in empirical studies, offered the following response:
"President Trump is right to take steps that encourage work opportunities for work-capable adults receiving food stamps.
Americans strongly agree with the idea that work-capable adults receiving taxpayer-funded benefits should be expected to work, or seek work, in return.
The proposed rule is a good first step to help get roughly 800,000 individuals back to work.
But the USDA could go further to encourage work for up to 4.5 million work-capable adults without dependents."
