Today, Judge Neil Gorsuch cleared the first hurdle in his Senate confirmation to the Supreme Court. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 11-9 in favor of advancing Judge Gorsuch's nomination to a full Senate vote. In addition, Senate Democrats obtained the 41 votes needed to block the nomination, setting up a showdown to end debate on Thursday. A final vote on Gorsuch's confirmation is expected to take place Friday.
