Today Pres.-elect Trump announced that he has appointed The Heritage Foundation’s Paul Winfree as Director of Budget Policy and Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council for The White House. Heritage President Jim DeMint and Vice President of Research James Wallner released the following statements:
“We are delighted to hear of President-elect Trump’s decision to appoint Paul Winfree as his Director of Budget Policy and Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council,” DeMint said. “Paul’s clear-eyed expertise in economic analysis and budgeting, his knowledge of how Capitol Hill works, and his commitment to limited government, economic freedom and opportunity for all Americans make him an ideal selection.”
According to Wallner, “As director of our Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies, Paul has sparked cutting edge research on how best to get the federal budget under control and in order, and he has been an outspoken advocate for reforming the congressional budget process so that it works better for American taxpayers.
“It is often said that ‘people are policy.’ Paul’s appointment is very, very good policy indeed. This is an outstanding move for the incoming administration and a most encouraging appointment for those who believe in principled, responsible governance.”
