WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation today announced the launch of the Citizen's Guide to Fight for America, a grassroots program for Americans who are concerned about the direction of our nation and want to restore and defend the ideals upon which America was founded.
The Citizen's Guide to Fight for America is a comprehensive toolkit for direct citizen action on behalf of American freedom and prosperity. The kit includes educational tools to help Americans more effectively communicate to their neighbors and the nation about the most important policy issues during one of the most trying times in our history.
“America is at this historic crossroads and has a choice between chaos and bigger, more intrusive government or the founding principles that made this the freest, most prosperous nation on earth,” said Heritage President Kay C. James. “What we do today will determine what kind of future we leave to our children and grandchildren. The Citizen's Guide to Fight for America provides a simple action plan for individual Americans to spend as little as one minute a week doing something to ensure we keep the America we love.”
The Citizen's Guide to Fight for America will initially run through Election Day. Each week, participants will receive resources and a choice of action items enabling them to grow their understanding of the biggest issues facing our nation and increase their civic engagement. Actions could take as little as one minute to complete. These resources include talking points on key issues, advice on how to write effective letters to the editor and editorials, training on how to communicate more effectively in public conversations, and key insights on the policy debates dominating our national conversation. Citizens will also be able to track their progress and impact each month as they complete recommended actions and grow in policy knowledge and civic engagement.
Participants will also be asked to get people registered to vote, sign a pledge supporting law enforcement, write letters to their local newspapers and become Heritage Action Sentinels.
“Americans should be personally and actively invested in how we are governed and how our society operates,” said Rob Bluey, Heritage’s vice president of communications. “Unfortunately, civic literacy continues to be a problem in America. Heritage refuses to accept an electorate that surrenders its future to the elites in Washington and Hollywood. The Citizen's Guide is not only a toolkit, but also a mobilization engine to propel Americans to fight for what makes our country great.”
