The New York Times’ 1619 Project is a new corrosive curriculum which reframes the American founding through a lens of slavery and oppression, claiming that racism is embedded in America’s very DNA. This curriculum is now being taught in over 4,500 classrooms across the country. With many on the Left now embracing this poisonous revision of our nation’s founding, it’s time for concerned citizens to speak out!
Your Steps to Make a Difference:
1. Read the article, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Editor of the "1619 Project," Stokes Fires of Racial Division, then listen to Heritage Visiting Fellow Dr. Allen Guelzo’s radio interview, The 1619 Project Is Revisionist History, and post either on one or more of your social media accounts using the hashtags #1619Project, #RewritingHistory, #RacialDivision, #FightForAmerica, and #Solutions2020. If you do not use social media, email it to 5 of your friends.
2. Remind 5 of your friends to register to vote and send them the following links: usa.gov/register-to-vote or vote.gov. Ensure you are registered to vote and check your state’s Voter Registration Deadlines.
3. Attend your local school board meeting—online or safely in person. After the meeting, find out who is your specific board member and note their email address. Consider attending more meetings in the future and voicing your opinion or concern on an issue like the 1619 Project being taught in the classroom. Find out when the next school board election is and mark it on your calendar to vote.
