WASHINGTON—Tom Spence, former president and publisher of Regnery Publishing, is joining The Heritage Foundation today as a senior advisor.

Throughout his 30-year career in the publishing industry, Spence earned a reputation for championing powerful and compelling conservative writers. His nationally recognized success and expertise will contribute to the advancement of The Heritage Foundation’s mission and vision for America.

While at Regnery, Spence set strategy and oversaw operations at the legendary publishing house, producing books by such prominent authors as Dennis Prager, David Limbaugh, Mollie Hemingway, Jay W. Richards, Michael Knowles, and Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz. His leadership drove the publication of approximately 60 new titles annually, including numerous bestsellers.

Spence received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Dartmouth College, a law degree from the University of Chicago, and a master’s degree in medieval history from Harvard University. A member of the bars of Massachusetts and Texas, he serves on the board of directors of the Center for Thomas More Studies and the board of trustees of the Philadelphia Society.

Under the direction of the executive vice president, Spence will evaluate and deliver recommendations for multiple departments of The Heritage Foundation. In addition, he will assist Heritage staff with book proposals, participate in the Young Leaders Program, and consider the scope and opportunity for Heritage’s publishing capacities.
