Following the midterm elections, The Heritage Foundation's director of the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies, Paul Winfree, gave the following reaction:
“The economy is doing great, but there are serious challenges that threaten the historic growth and will put pressure on the nation’s finances next year. The debt limit suspension will expire in March and Congress will likely move to repealing what is left of the Budget Control Act’s discretionary spending limits. Congress should therefore pass a budget and reconciliation bill in the lame duck to reduce the growth in mandatory spending.”
